Real Madrid have moved to shut down speculation linking them with a summer move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández, releasing an official statement denying any interest in signing the Argentine international.
For months, Fernández has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Spanish giants, particularly following comments about his admiration for Madrid and uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at Stamford Bridge. However, Real Madrid have now made their position crystal clear.
In a strongly-worded statement, the La Liga club insisted they have not held any discussions regarding the Chelsea star and have no plans to pursue a transfer.
Real Madrid stated that they have not made any efforts “either directly or indirectly” to sign Fernández and stressed that reports suggesting otherwise are completely unfounded.
The Spanish champions also expressed their respect for both the player and Chelsea, highlighting the strong relationship that exists between the two clubs and emphasizing their commitment to institutional loyalty.
The statement comes amid growing speculation over Fernández’s future after recent comments from his agent suggested that options away from Chelsea were being explored. Those remarks sparked renewed rumours of interest from Real Madrid, but the club’s response appears to have firmly ended any immediate links.
Fernández, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in a British-record £107 million deal in February 2023, remains one of the club’s most important players. Since arriving in west London, the Argentina World Cup winner has established himself as a key figure in midfield, contributing goals, assists, and leadership qualities across multiple campaigns.
The 25-year-old found himself at the centre of controversy earlier this year after admitting he would “love” to live in Madrid and was unsure what the future held. Those comments reportedly led to disciplinary action from Chelsea, with the midfielder omitted from two matches in April.
Despite the recent uncertainty, Real Madrid’s public denial removes one of the most frequently mentioned destinations from the conversation. Chelsea remain determined to retain Fernández, who is under contract until 2032, and there is currently no indication that the Blues are willing to entertain offers for one of their prized assets.
With pre-season approaching and a new era under head coach Xabi Alonso beginning to take shape, Chelsea supporters will hope the latest developments help bring an end to the transfer speculation and allow Fernández to focus fully on the season ahead.
