Chelsea have been handed a fresh summer talking point after Enzo Fernández’s representative confirmed that the Argentine midfielder is considering potential opportunities away from Stamford Bridge.
According to reports, Chelsea remain relaxed about the situation and expect Fernández to return for pre-season training following his involvement with Argentina at the World Cup. However, comments from his agent, Javier Pastore, have inevitably fueled speculation regarding the midfielder’s long-term future.
Speaking to Spanish publication Marca, Pastore revealed that while Fernández is currently focused on international duty, discussions about his club future are taking place behind the scenes.
“We are looking at possibilities to leave Chelsea, but there is nothing firm or confirmed at any club,” Pastore said.
The remarks will undoubtedly attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, particularly Real Madrid, who have been linked with the 25-year-old on multiple occasions.
Chelsea, however, are in a strong position. Fernández remains under contract until 2032 and is considered one of the key figures in the club’s long-term project. Reports suggest the Blues would demand a fee of around £120 million should any club attempt to prise him away this summer.
Since arriving from Benfica in a then-British record £107 million deal in February 2023, Fernández has developed into one of Chelsea’s most influential players. The World Cup winner has contributed 19 goals and 17 assists in 117 Premier League appearances, establishing himself as a vital presence in midfield.
Pastore also addressed previous comments made by Fernández regarding Real Madrid, insisting they should not be overinterpreted. The agent pointed to the player’s friendships in Spain, including his close relationship with fellow Argentina international Julián Álvarez, as a reason for his frequent visits to Madrid.
Despite the growing speculation, there remains no concrete offer on the table, and Chelsea’s stance appears unchanged. The club are not actively looking to sell Fernández and continue to view him as a cornerstone of their future plans.
With Xabi Alonso beginning work as Chelsea’s new head coach and preparations for the 2026/27 season underway, supporters will be hoping the Argentine remains committed to the project. For now, the situation is one to monitor closely, but there is no indication that Fernández’s departure is imminent.
Chelsea fans will be eager for clarity in the coming weeks as the summer transfer window gathers momentum, with the club determined to keep hold of one of their most talented and valuable assets.
