Enzo Maresca has now been briefed on Chelsea’s expectations for his second season in charge.
After lifting two trophies and securing a return to the Champions League in his debut campaign, the Chelsea hierarchy is confident that progress under Maresca will continue. Speaking after the Club World Cup victory, co-owner Todd Boehly told talkSPORT:
“We couldn’t have wished for a better outcome. The boys have done such good work and really came together under Enzo’s leadership.”

Boehly praised the team for beating PSG and highlighted the excitement among fans and owners alike:
“No one gave us a chance to beat PSG. The boys thrived on that. Watching them come together has been very special.”
This summer has seen further reinforcements added, with Chelsea securing signings like Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Dario Essugo, and Estevao Willian.
According to journalist Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, Maresca’s main target for next season is to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League again, consolidating Chelsea’s return to Europe’s elite.
Winning the Premier League title is not seen as a required objective for 2025/26. The board recognises that more work is needed to close the gap on Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. However, pressure and expectations will naturally rise.
Maresca reflected on the successful season in a message shared on Instagram:
“What a way to finish the 24/25 season. It has been a very long journey. We did it – and we did it in our way once again. Thanks to the players for the fantastic effort. Thanks to all our fans around the world. Thanks to my family and friends for being in my corner.”
