Alexander Isak has asked to 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐕𝐄 Newcastle United

The Premier League could be in for a major shake-up, with reports emerging that Alexander Isak has asked to leave Newcastle United this summer.

The Swedish striker, regarded by many as one of the league’s top forwards, has attracted interest from several clubs. Newcastle, aware of the potential departure, are said to be exploring alternatives, especially after missing out on Hugo Ekitike — who is now set to join Liverpool after interest from both Chelsea and Newcastle earlier in the window.

Chelsea Not Expected to Reignite Pursuit

Chelsea have been linked with Isak for several months, but Champions League qualification was seen as a key factor in any potential deal. While some fans had hoped the club might make a late move, especially with Arsenal signing Viktor Gyökeres and Liverpool securing Ekitike, it now appears Chelsea are no longer in the race.

According to transfer insider Graeme Bailey, the Blues — along with Arsenal — have stepped back from the pursuit after learning that Isak has his sights set elsewhere.

“Chelsea have long liked Alexander Isak. Is he going to be one of the options? Possibly, but not from what I am hearing,” Bailey said. “Chelsea and Arsenal both backed away a few months ago. I’m told they were made aware that Isak was looking elsewhere, and that destination appears to be Liverpool. Since then, neither club has stepped up.”

Chelsea’s Transfer Priorities Lie Elsewhere

With Isak seemingly off the table, Chelsea have shifted their focus to other areas. The club has already signed forwards Liam Delap and João Pedro, reducing the urgency for another striker.

Attention has now turned to bolstering the midfield and defence. The Blues are strongly linked with Xavi Simons, who could be brought in to offset the expected departures of Christopher Nkunku and João Félix.

In defence, Chelsea are keen to add another player before the window closes, with Ajax’s Jorrel Hato emerging as a top target. Talks are reportedly progressing well, with Ajax open to receiving one or two Chelsea academy players as part of the deal — a reflection of the strong relationship between the two clubs.
