The Chelsea supporters who made the long trip to Manchester were rewarded for their loyalty at the end of a turbulent week for the club.

A dramatic last-minute equaliser from Enzo Fernรกndez earned the Blues a valuable point at the Etihad Stadium, capping off a resilient performance under interim head coach Calum McFarlane.

McFarlane, thrust into the spotlight following the chaotic sacking of Enzo Maresca, drew praise for his in-game management. His substitutions helped shift the momentum, and Chelsea looked energised despite the off-field noise surrounding the club.

While the result offered encouragement on the pitch, events in the stands told a very different story.

Chelsea Fans Chant for Roman Abramovich

Throughout the match, it was the Chelsea away end that dominated the atmosphere โ€” but not in a way that reflected positively on the current ownership.

According to journalist Nizaar Kinsella, travelling supporters could be heard chanting the name of former owner Roman Abramovich, a pointed reminder of the success Chelsea enjoyed during his era.

โ€œChants of โ€˜Roman Abramovichโ€™ are back in the away end at Manchester City vs Chelsea,โ€ Kinsella reported.

The chants underline growing discontent among sections of the fanbase, who have become increasingly vocal in their opposition to Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital following recent decisions at the club.

Protests Planned as Fan Frustration Grows

Reports suggest that Chelsea supporters are now planning a protest ahead of the upcoming Premier League clash with Brentford, as frustrations with the current ownership model continue to boil over.

Although Maresca was never universally popular among fans, many felt Chelsea were moving in a positive direction under his leadership. His abrupt dismissal has only intensified concerns about instability and long-term planning at Stamford Bridge.

Liam Rosenior Announcement Expected Soon

As Chelsea were fighting back late on against Manchester City, Liam Rosenior was reportedly flying in from Strasbourg for further talks over becoming the clubโ€™s next permanent head coach.

Several reports suggest that Rosenior could be officially announced as early as Monday, bringing an end to a hectic and controversial week in west London.

The Englishman will inherit a squad brimming with talent โ€” but also a fanbase in need of reassurance. Early results will be crucial if he is to restore belief in the wider project.

Still, Chelseaโ€™s performance at the Etihad hinted that there is more than enough quality within the squad to mount a strong second half of the season.
