Kenyan Darts Star David Munyua Dreams of Chelsea Visit After Making History at Ally Pally
Kenyan darts star David Munyua is living out a dream at the Paddy Power World Darts Championship โ and now has his sights set on a special trip to Stamford Bridge before leaving Alexandra Palace.
Munyua created history with a stunning first-round victory over Belgiumโs Mike De Decker, becoming the first Kenyan to win a match at the PDC World Darts Championship and instantly capturing the imagination of fans back home.
Historic Win Puts Kenya on the Global Stage
The 30-year-old produced a fearless comeback from two sets down to defeat De Decker and book a second-round clash against Kevin Doets. The victory made Munyua a national hero overnight and marked a landmark moment for Kenyan sport.
His achievement was even recognised at the highest level, with Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto sending him a personal message of congratulations and encouragement.
A Chelsea Dream at Stamford Bridge
As if the moment couldnโt get any bigger, Munyua has now been told by PDC chiefs that he could be rewarded with a dream visit to Stamford Bridge to watch his beloved Chelsea in action.
For Munyua, that opportunity would mean far more than just a personal milestone.
โIโm a big fan of Chelsea. Since I was 10 years old, I have supported Chelsea,โ he said.
โIf I have the chance to visit that would be a big thing โ not for me, but for fans in Kenya.โ
The Kenyan star explained how his love for Chelsea began during a golden era for African footballers at the club.
โWhen I was growing up, there were people who liked Arsenal and Manchester United because they were doing well. But Chelsea didnโt have that many fans.
โWhen I saw them, they were doing amazing โ the moment of Didier Drogba and Solomon Kalou. They were doing crazy stuff. Drogba is from the Ivory Coast, so I started supporting.โ
