Individual recognition
Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer continues to collect individual honours after being named in FIFA’s Team of the Year for 2025, underlining his growing reputation on the world stage.

Recognition despite a quieter year
Although it was not Palmer’s most prolific calendar year, his outstanding performances at the Club World Cup appear to have played a major role in earning him recognition among the game’s elite.

Tuchel shows his faith
England manager Thomas Tuchel ranked Palmer second in his personal voting, placing him just behind international teammate Harry Kane.

Standing out among elite competition
With the likes of Morgan Rogers shining at Aston Villa and Phil Foden starring for Manchester City, Tuchel’s backing highlights how highly the Chelsea midfielder is still regarded at international level.

Global appreciation for Palmer
While Palmer finished runner-up in Tuchel’s vote, several figures went one step further and selected the Chelsea star as their outright Player of the Year.

Votes from across the world
According to FIFA’s official website, Ghana captain Jordan Ayew voted Palmer number one, alongside Trinidad and Tobago’s Kevin Molino and Cook Islands skipper Thane Pora Vogel Beal.

Chelsea’s sole representative
Palmer was the only Chelsea player to receive nominations, with coaches from Saudi Arabia and Vietnam also placing the Blues star at the top of their ballots.

Praise for Maresca too
Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca also earned recognition in the Coach of the Year voting, with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma selecting him as his top choice.

Time for Palmer to Kick On in 2026

Welcome return
Everyone inside Stamford Bridge was delighted to see Palmer back among the goals at the weekend, as he marked his return from injury with a strike against Everton.

Frustrating injury spell
An ongoing groin problem has limited Palmer’s involvement this season, but signs suggest he is now ready to play a far bigger role as Chelsea move into 2026.

Careful management
Chelsea are continuing to manage Palmer’s minutes carefully. Enzo Maresca opted not to include him against Cardiff City, despite depth players struggling to secure the win on their own.

Chelsea’s difference-maker
Chelsea have consistently looked a stronger side when Palmer is on the pitch, and the club will be hoping for a fully fit star man capable of driving them forward next year.
