Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Portuguese international said the players must shoulder the blame for the lack of intensity and urgency on the pitch.

“They were better than us in everything. It’s hard to accept, we need to learn from it, but we need to clear our heads, these things happen. We’re already focused on Bournemouth.”

Neto praised Leeds’ energy and hunger while acknowledging Chelsea were simply out-fought and out-worked.

“We had a bad day, but they were more active, more assertive, won the second balls, and showed more desire than we did. We can’t take matches for granted.”

The winger acknowledged the emotional sting of the defeat, stressing that accountability is necessary — not excuses.

“Of course, it hurts, it’s the worst part of football. Sometimes you can lose and say you gave it your all on the pitch, but today we have to take responsibility, all of us. Sometimes these things happen, we’re human. We had a really good month, and today was just a bad day. We have no explanation for it. Everyone wants to win.”

On returning from the bench and his readiness going forward, Neto added:

“I feel very good, I am full of energy to help the team in the next match.”
