Chelsea vs Wolves: Injury News and Team Updates Ahead of Premier League Clash
Chelsea will host Wolves at Stamford Bridge this Saturday night as Enzo Maresca’s side look to bounce back from their midweek disappointment in the Champions League. The Blues were held to a 2-2 draw against Qarabag, but head into this Premier League clash on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Chelsea currently sit seventh in the league standings and will be aiming to take advantage of a Wolves side struggling at the bottom end of the table and still searching for their first Premier League win of the season.
However, both teams will be without several key players due to injuries and suspensions.
Chelsea Team News
Maresca’s squad continues to be hit by fitness issues. Cole Palmer remains sidelined with a groin injury, while Benoît Badiashile is not expected to return until after the international break.
The latest blow came in midweek as Roméo Lavia was forced off early against Qarabag with a suspected quadriceps injury. Maresca admitted his frustration over the setback:
“We feel a shame for him, especially for him,” Maresca said. “He’s not been fit for a long period. We’ll see now – it’s too early to understand the kind of injury, but I think it’s his quad.”
Levi Colwill and Dário Essugo also remain unavailable as they continue their recoveries from long-term injuries.
Wolves Team News
Wolves are also dealing with several absentees as they prepare for the trip to west London. Rodrigo Gomes recently underwent surgery and is not expected to return until the New Year, while Matt Doherty remains out through injury.
Leon Chiwome is another long-term absentee, and Emmanuel Agbadou is suspended after receiving a red card in last weekend’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham.
With both sides missing important players, the fixture could prove to be a test of depth and adaptability for Maresca and the Wolves caretaker staff.
Chelsea will be confident of taking all three points at home, but the visitors will hope to capitalise on any defensive lapses that have plagued the Blues in recent weeks.
