Chelsea Call Police After £30,000 Worth of Equipment Goes Missing at Cobham Training Ground

Investigations are underway after Chelsea reported the disappearance of valuable equipment from their Cobham training facility. Around £30,000 worth of camera equipment has gone missing, prompting the club to call in Surrey Police.

The missing items include high-tech gear used by the coaching staff to film and analyse training sessions. While it remains unclear whether the equipment was stolen or misplaced, the incident has been deemed serious enough to involve the authorities.

Chelsea, like many elite clubs, rely heavily on video analysis for tactical and technical development. The lost equipment played a vital role in the team’s preparation and performance reviews.

The players returned to training on Monday following a short summer break after winning the Club World Cup in the United States. They defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the final, marking Enzo Maresca’s second trophy in charge after the UEFA Conference League triumph.

Due to the extended run in the Club World Cup, Chelsea’s off-season was cut short, with players given just three weeks to recover. The Premier League campaign begins on August 17, with the Blues hosting Crystal Palace on the opening weekend.

Chelsea’s preparations have also been disrupted by injuries. Levi Colwill picked up a knock in one of the early sessions.

“We had a problem the last two days with Levi Colwill,” Maresca said. “We don’t know how long he will be out. Hopefully not too long.”

There is, however, some positive news for the defence. Wesley Fofana has resumed full training and could be in contention for the opening match of the league season.

“Wes is back, he is training with us,” said Maresca. “I don’t think he’s ready for minutes in the next two games, but he can be ready for the Palace game, which is good news.”
