Trevoh Chalobah Sends Confident Message Ahead of Club World Cup Final Against PSG
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah says the Blues are “over the moon” to have reached the FIFA Club World Cup final and are fully confident ahead of their showdown with Paris Saint-Germain this weekend.
Having impressed throughout the tournament, Chalobah insists there’s no self-doubt in the Chelsea camp despite PSG’s formidable form. The 25-year-old, who has played a key role under Enzo Maresca since returning from injury, made it clear the squad is both focused and excited.
“We are over the moon,” Chalobah said. “From the first game of the tournament our goal was to reach the final, and it is nice that we achieved it. All we can do is watch what’s happening on the pitch and the boys have done a good job of that throughout the tournament. Now we just have to take the final step.”
Praise for New Signings
Chalobah also reserved special praise for Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, two of Chelsea’s newest attacking additions, who have already started making an impression during the tournament.
“They both fit in well. They both just joined the team, but they played like they had been there for years,” Chalobah noted. “It’s nice that they have such qualities and they play in a strong team. We are very happy for them.”
Both Pedro and Delap have added fresh attacking options for Maresca, and their quick adaptation has given Chelsea another dimension heading into the final.
“We Have No Doubts in Ourselves”
Looking ahead to the final against Kylian Mbappé’s PSG, Chalobah insisted Chelsea’s preparation will remain consistent, regardless of the opponent.
“We will prepare the same way we prepare for every game,” he said. “Nothing changes, no matter what opponent we play, we will prepare the same way. It will be interesting to play against one of the best teams in the world. We are ready for this and we have no doubts in ourselves.”
Final Thought
Nkunku’s Chelsea experience has never been straightforward. But his recent showings — not only electric, but telling — are proof that there is still much that he can offer. Whether or not this is the start of a second wind or just a well-timed tryout is debatable. But the reality is, Chelsea could already have an answer to one of their biggest summer mysteries — and his name is Christopher Nkunku.
