Estevao Willian Explains Why He Chose Chelsea Over Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid
One of Chelsea’s latest arrivals has opened up about why he chose the Blues over other top European clubs, including Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
Chelsea are enjoying a productive transfer window, having already secured four new signings: Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato. The club continues to push for additional deals, targeting Xavi Simons and possibly Alejandro Garnacho.
Among their new acquisitions is highly rated Brazilian youngster Estevao Willian. A deal for the 18-year-old was agreed earlier for a fee believed to be around €34 million.
While several top clubs were interested in him, including Arsenal, Barcelona, and Real Madrid, Estevao ultimately chose Chelsea. In his first official interview with the club, he revealed the reasoning behind his decision:
“Their plans, the structure, and the club. Everything. But mainly the plans and the project the club has is what interested me and my family, and I think it was the best decision we could have made.”

A Promising Talent for the Future
Estevao’s abilities have been praised by several former Chelsea players. Often nicknamed “Messinho” due to his footwork and playing style, he is regarded as one of the most promising young talents in football today.
Last season, he made 37 appearances for Palmeiras, scoring 12 goals and assisting 6 times. His final game for the club came in the Club World Cup quarterfinals against Chelsea, where he scored a goal.
Primarily a right winger, Estevao can also play as an attacking or right-sided midfielder. His versatility will be a valuable asset for Enzo Maresca, who will be pleased to add the young star to his squad.
While Estevao still has room to grow, Chelsea offers the perfect environment for him to develop. With the right guidance and hard work, he has the potential to become one of the best in the world. Now, the focus will be on training, adapting, and earning his place at Stamford Bridge.
