Bayern Munich Eye Double Chelsea Swoop on Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto
Chelsea’s entrance into the career of Christopher Nkunku has not been straightforward since signing a high-profile switch from RB Leipzig in summer 2023. Having arrived with so much anticipation, the French global had a woeful first season blighted by injuries, which sat him out for the majority of the season.
Now that the 2024/25 season has ended, Nkunku continues to battle for minutes and match practice, featuring mostly in cup games under manager Enzo Maresca. As competition in the squad grows and the forward yet to find a first-team spot, Nkunku is reported to be contemplating an exit from Stamford Bridge.
Bayern Munich Eager for Nkunku Return
German giants Bayern Munich are one of the serious bidders to get Nkunku’s signature. Having already flourished in the Bundesliga with Leipzig, a return to Germany might offer the 26-year-old a fresh start and more responsibility.

But Nkunku is not the only Chelsea player on Bayern’s wish list.
Bayern Also Make Enquiry for Malo Gusto
According to journalist Simon Phillips on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea (via The Chelsea Chronicle), Bayern Munich also inquired about Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto.
Whereas Gusto was impressive in his inaugural term at Stamford Bridge, form declined significantly in the last campaign. The 21-year-old managed only two assists and no goals in 41 appearances, raising questions about his role under the system of Maresca — one that might not be getting the best out of the Frenchman.
With Chelsea said to be willing to sell a number of first-team stars this summer in order to provide space for new acquisitions and adhere to fiscal rules, underperformers such as Gusto might find themselves in the firing line — provided a decent offer comes through.

Although he is a first-choice staple, the fall from form of the right-back and compatibility with Maresca’s tactical system could prompt Chelsea to approve a sale, particularly with Reece James recovering and Josh Acheampong emerging as a sound stopgap.
What’s Next for Nkunku and Gusto?
As Chelsea experience a summer of change, Nkunku and Gusto’s futures are also uncertain. With Bayern Munich now openly declaring real interest in both men, a double raid cannot be ruled out if the Bundesliga giants are willing to meet Chelsea’s price for them.
The next few weeks will be decisive. If Bayern make formal offers, Chelsea may be inclined to sell — possibly bringing an end to two brief reigns at Stamford Bridge.
