Levi Colwill: “Every Team Will Want to Beat Chelsea Now”
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has issued a rallying call ahead of the 2025/26 season, warning that becoming Club World Cup champions has made the Blues a target.
In an interview with The Athletic, Colwill said:
“Do I think teams will target a win over Chelsea even more so that they can say they have beaten the world champions? Definitely, but that is not a bad thing. They will give us respect. But we have to always be on it; our mindset has to be that we have to win every game.”
Chelsea, who also lifted the UEFA Conference League last season, are building momentum under Enzo Maresca. With Ajax’s Jorrel Hato set to arrive and Joao Pedro already making an impact—scoring three times during the Club World Cup, including in the final—the squad is looking stronger than ever.
Colwill, who played a key role in Chelsea’s top-four finish last season, is also eagerly anticipating his Champions League debut:
“When that anthem comes on, it is going to be a dream. I could get a bit emotional, to be honest.”
With world champion status, new signings, and Champions League football returning to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are heading into the new campaign with both confidence and expectation.
