João Pedro Highlights Importance of Full 90 Minutes After Chelsea’s 0–0 Draw With Bournemouth
Chelsea striker João Pedro gave a brief flash interview after the frustrating 0–0 draw against Bournemouth, stressing how crucial full playing time is for a forward looking to make an impact.
The Brazilian entered the match in the second half, but admitted that limited minutes make it difficult to influence the scoreboard.
“It’s important for a forward to play the full 90 minutes of a match to have more chances to score,” João Pedro said.
“The whole team is struggling — not just me”
João Pedro acknowledged that Chelsea are going through a difficult period, with several games without a victory or goals, but insisted he remains confident in the team’s long-term objectives.
He emphasized that the struggles are shared across the squad:
“The series of unsuccessful matches haunts not only me, but the team as a whole. But everything will be fine, and we will achieve the goals set for the club.”
No title talk inside the dressing room
The striker also pushed back on external narrative suggesting Chelsea were supposed to challenge for the title this season. According to him, the expectations placed on the squad have created unnecessary pressure.
“No one at the club considered themselves title contenders,” he said.
“The situation in the league table before the match with Arsenal only added pressure, and it’s affecting the players — like in the game with Leeds and today against Bournemouth.”
“0–0 was a fair result”
Despite Chelsea creating a handful of chances, João Pedro admitted the draw was a fair reflection of the match:
“We had chances to score, but we didn’t find the net. 0–0 is a fair result.”
With fixtures coming fast, the Blues will hope their attackers — including João Pedro — can soon rediscover their scoring touch.
