Jamie Carragher Predicts PSG to Knock Chelsea Out of the Champions League
Former Liverpool FC defender Jamie Carragher believes Paris Saint-Germain will progress ahead of Chelsea FC in their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie.
Chelsea travel to the Parc des Princes for the first leg before hosting the decisive second leg at Stamford Bridge next week. With both sides in strong form recently, the tie is expected to be closely contested.
Carragher Backs PSG
Carragher shared his prediction while discussing Liverpool’s European situation after their 1–0 first-leg defeat to Galatasaray SK.
Speaking after the match, the pundit suggested PSG are the most likely team to advance from the Chelsea tie and potentially face Liverpool in the next round.
“I don’t have any hope for Liverpool going into the next round… if it’s PSG, which I think it might be.”
His comments imply he expects the French champions to overcome Chelsea across the two legs.

Chelsea Have Recent History Against PSG
Despite Carragher’s prediction, Chelsea will head into the tie with confidence after beating PSG in last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup final.
On that occasion, the Blues produced a commanding performance to lift the trophy, leaving Luis Enrique’s side with unfinished business.

High-Stakes European Battle
Under Liam Rosenior, Chelsea have been improving steadily and will hope to prove Carragher wrong by taking a positive result back to London.
With star players on both sides and plenty of recent history between the clubs, the Champions League showdown promises to be one of the standout ties of the round.
