Alejandro Garnacho insists he has no regrets about leaving Manchester United for Chelsea, saying the move was exactly what he needed to take the next major step in his career.

Chelsea signed the 21-year-old winger for £40 million in late August after he fell out of favour under United head coach Ruben Amorim. Garnacho spent five years at Old Trafford but made it clear he felt no sadness about how things ended.

When asked directly if he had any regrets about his United exit, Garnacho replied simply:

Speaking to the media about his high-profile switch, the Argentine explained that joining Chelsea was a deliberate and necessary decision for his development:

“I came here to play my football and show people the player I am. Sometimes in life you have to change things to take a step forward or to improve as a player. I think it was the right moment and the right club. So it was an easy decision.”

Garnacho added that staying in the Premier League was a priority:

“I wanted to stay in the Premier League because I think it’s the best league in the world.”

A key factor in his move was his early conversation with Enzo Maresca:

“I spoke with the manager before I came here and he explained the project. He convinced me and I’m really happy to be here.”

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, Garnacho says the working relationship between him and Maresca has grown quickly:

“He explained everything to me, and now working together, we are doing well. We are going to improve with time — it’s just three months together — and he trusts me. That is the most important thing for confidence, and I want to improve.”

Garnacho has steadily become an important piece of Maresca’s attack this season, and with confidence growing, Chelsea believe the 21-year-old is only getting started.
