According to reports from Globo Esporte in Brazil, Chelsea have stepped in to oversee the recovery of one of their brightest young signings, Denner, after the left-back underwent successful knee surgery in London earlier this week.
The 17-year-old, who was signed from Corinthians in January, suffered a meniscus injury and travelled to the UK to undergo the operation on Tuesday. The procedure was successful, and the Premier League club will now take charge of his rehabilitation directly at their Cobham training facilities.
Corinthians gave the green light for Denner’s trip to England, viewing it as a positive and professional gesture from Chelsea, who are demonstrating strong commitment and care towards one of their key prospects for the future.
Denner, who cannot officially feature for Chelsea until he turns 18 in mid-2026, is expected to continue his recovery in England before potentially returning to play for Corinthians’ youth side in next year’s São Paulo Youth Cup.
The transfer agreement between the clubs was reportedly worth €10 million (around £8.6 million), with an additional €4 million (£3.4 million) in potential add-ons based on future first-team appearances.
Corinthians were initially reluctant to sell the highly rated teenager but decided to accept Chelsea’s offer to avoid losing him for significantly less to another Brazilian club, as his domestic release clause was set at approximately £1.6 million.
Denner has already made his mark on the international stage, representing Brazil at youth level and scoring in the final of the last São Paulo Youth Cup. He is regarded as one of the most promising talents to emerge from the Corinthians academy in recent years.
By bringing the young defender to London for surgery and rehabilitation, Chelsea have underlined their intent to safeguard their investment and support Denner’s long-term development — a clear indication of how highly they rate the Brazilian starlet.
