Christopher Nkunku to Stay? Bayern Munich Talks Collapse as Chelsea Hold Firm
Chelsea fans may breathe a sigh of relief—for now—after fresh reports from Kicker and Sport Bild, echoing earlier claims from Sky UK, suggest that Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Christopher Nkunku has hit a wall.
Negotiations between the Blues and the Bundesliga giants have reportedly broken down, meaning Nkunku looks unlikely to feature at the Allianz Arena this season.
Bayern’s Loan Bid Rejected
Bayern had set their sights on the French attacker, hoping to secure him on a loan deal. Chelsea, however, remain firm in their stance: a permanent sale only.
That position clashed with Bayern’s current financial priorities. Having just splashed around €70 million on Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, the German champions were reluctant to commit an additional €35m for Nkunku. Ironically, reports also suggest Bayern were prepared to spend over €60m on Werder Bremen’s Nick Woltemade, underlining how highly Nkunku is valued in West London.

Youth Over Experience in Bavaria
Instead of pursuing Nkunku further, Bayern appear ready to place their faith in youth. Prospects such as Lennart Karl, Wisdom Mike, and Jonah Kusi-Asare are tipped to feature more prominently in their attacking setup this season.
Could There Be a Twist?
While the current outlook suggests Nkunku will remain at Stamford Bridge, the transfer window is far from over. A late U-turn cannot be ruled out, particularly with Bayern’s need for attacking reinforcements still apparent.
Adding another layer of intrigue, Nkunku has been linked with a potential return to RB Leipzig, possibly as part of a swap deal involving Xavi Simons—a move that would undoubtedly cause a stir among Chelsea supporters.
What This Means for Chelsea
For Enzo Maresca’s side, Nkunku staying would be a significant boost. Injuries disrupted his debut season in England, but his quality remains unquestionable. With the Blues aiming to push higher up the Premier League table, Nkunku’s creativity and goal-scoring instincts could prove crucial.
For now, Chelsea fans can focus on seeing him rediscover his best form in blue, rather than in Bayern red.
