Chelsea Transfer News: Delap Stinks of Success Already, Gittens & Joao Pedro Remain Targets
Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town in January, and the 22-year-old has not been slow in making an impact. Delap was involved in setting up Enzo Fernandez to score Chelsea’s first goal in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Los Angeles FC in the Club World Cup, a move that indicated his capabilities in Enzo Maresca’s setup.
Despite Delap’s strong beginning, Chelsea remain on the transfer market. The club continues its pursuit of Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens after losing him to a rivals’ bid last transfer window. Another striker is also being considered as part of the squad renovation.
Joao Pedro Back on the Radar?
The other Stamford Bridge rumor-rag player is Brighton’s Joao Pedro. Chelsea’s interest in the Brazilian attacker would not be a surprise to the Seagulls, who have already sold Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, and Robert Sanchez to the Blues in the last few years.

Joao Pedro’s Record in England
Club | Games | Goals |
---|---|---|
Brighton | 70 | 30 |
Watford | 109 | 24 |
Total | 179 | 54 |
Since leaving Fluminense for England in 2020, Pedro has scored 54 goals across stints at Watford and Brighton. At the age of only 23, he is proving to be a scoring menace, even if one who as yet has not been one of the top frontmen in the Premier League.
With Delap already signed and performing well, a Pedro transfer may not be required straight away, but Chelsea are clearly leaving their doors open to bring in players to bolster themselves for a hectic 2025/26 season.
