Chelsea FC are expected to stand firm on the future of Andrey Santos, with the club reportedly maintaining that the midfielder is not for sale despite continued interest from Manchester United.
The 21-year-old has become an increasingly important figure at Stamford Bridge, particularly following the arrival of Liam Rosenior, who previously worked with Santos during his successful loan spell at RC Strasbourg Alsace.
From Vasco Signing to Key Chelsea Midfielder
Chelsea signed Santos from CR Vasco da Gama in January 2023 in a deal reportedly worth around ยฃ13.5 million.
His early time in Europe was far from straightforward. A short loan spell at Nottingham Forest failed to provide regular opportunities, but his career quickly gained momentum after moving to Strasbourg.
Under Rosenior in Ligue 1, Santos thrived, scoring 10 goals from midfield and helping the French side secure qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
That impressive form strengthened his case to become part of Chelseaโs long-term midfield plans.
Breakthrough Under Rosenior
Santos eventually made his long-awaited Chelsea debut during the FIFA Club World Cup, but opportunities were initially limited under former manager Enzo Maresca.
Since Roseniorโs arrival, however, the Brazilian has become a regular starter.
He has frequently been deployed in a midfield pivot alongside Moises Caicedo, providing energy, defensive coverage and an eye for late runs into the box.

Manchester United Interest Remains
Interest in Santos is nothing new.
Chelsea rejected an approach from Saudi club Al-Qadsiah FC last summer, while Manchester United have also tracked the midfielder closely.
According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Unitedโs interest dates back to negotiations involving Alejandro Garnacho earlier in the season.
However, Santosโ growing role at Chelsea has made any potential move significantly less likely.
Could a Transfer Still Happen?
While Chelseaโs official stance remains that Santos is not for sale, there could theoretically be movement if the clubโs midfield becomes overcrowded.
The Blues already boast strong options including Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, and Caicedo, while club captain Reece James has also been used in midfield roles.
Even so, Chelseaโs strategy of handing players long-term contracts means they hold a strong negotiating position in any potential discussions.
For now, the message from Stamford Bridge appears clear: Andrey Santos is firmly part of the clubโs plans moving forward.
