Chelsea and Arsenal are among the clubs showing interest in RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, with the Blues making significant progress in their pursuit of the Dutch international.
According to Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, Chelsea have already initiated talks with Simons’ representatives and are set for another meeting today, which will also involve the player’s brother, Faustino. The club’s aim is to reach a verbal agreement with the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge.

While Arsenal remain interested, they are currently only “waiting in the wings,” suggesting a less aggressive approach at this stage of the transfer window.
If Chelsea are successful in securing Simons’ approval, negotiations with RB Leipzig over a transfer fee will follow. The Club World Cup winners are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
Bayern Munich are also monitoring the situation, with sporting director Max Eberl keen on the Netherlands international. However, the German champions have yet to make a formal approach, giving Chelsea a clearer path as things stand.
Simons spent last season on loan at Paris Saint-Germain and impressed with his creativity, versatility, and attacking output—attributes that make him a strong fit for Maresca’s system.
