Bayern Munich not obligated to buy Nicolas Jackson permanently

4
Bayern Munich will not be required to make Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson’s move permanent.
The loan agreement stipulated that Jackson needed to start or play at least 45 minutes in a minimum of 40 Bundesliga or Champions League matches this season for an automatic purchase to trigger. So far, the Senegalese forward has met that requirement in just six matches, with insufficient fixtures remaining to reach the threshold — even in a perfect scenario.
Even if Bayern had additional league fixtures or if DFB-Pokal matches were included, the outcome would likely be the same. Jackson is expected to be called up by Senegal for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which would mean a significant absence from Bayern duty during a crucial period of the season.
In hindsight, Uli Hoeneß’s earlier claim that a permanent deal “was never going to happen” has proven correct.
Jackson’s performance so far at Bayern

Despite the contractual reality, Jackson’s actual performances in Munich have been solid and credible for a rotational forward. Across all competitions, he has registered:
- 4 goals
- 1 assist
- 457 minutes played
This demonstrates an impressive goal involvement rate relative to minutes spent on the pitch.
According to Abendzeitung, via @iMiaSanMia coverage, Jackson is expected to start against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga tomorrow. The identity of the player he replaces in the lineup remains uncertain — but the decision suggests growing trust from the coaching staff.
