Arsenal Make Surprise Bid for Chelsea’s Noni Madueke
Arsenal have opened negotiations with Chelsea regarding the potential transfer of winger Noni Madueke, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg asserts. The Gunners are doggedly pursuing a number of targets to bolster their attack, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze also in the frame, but Madueke is now being considered.
Why Arsenal Are Pursuing Madueke – And Does He Suit?
The 23-year-old has played for the majority of his Chelsea career on the right wing, and that raises concerns about how he would be fitted into the Mikel Arteta system with Bukayo Saka’s automatic starting position. However, Arsenal can be considering:
Versatility – Trying Madueke on the left or as a false attacking midfielder
Rotation – Providing some cover behind Saka, who has been over-relied upon the last couple of seasons
Homegrown Status – Madueke is a homegrown player (he came up through Tottenham’s system)

Should Chelsea Sell to a Rival?
Madueke has significantly improved over the last few months, so this is a risk for Chelsea, who have a habit of regretting selling to direct competitors (see: Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne). With Estevão Willian joining next summer, the Blues may feel they can flog up-but losing another skilled winger to Arsenal may be a misstep.
Arsenal’s Transfer Window Heating Up
The Gunners are making inroads on transfers for:
Christian Nørgaard (Brentford midfielder)
Cristhian Mosquera (Defender for Villarreal)
Rodrygo or Eze (Alternative attacking options)
Final Verdict
Madueke is an intriguing but unconventional target for Arsenal. If Chelsea agree to the sale, they must ensure it does not come back to bite them—while Arteta would require a clear plan to use the winger in an attack set deep.
