João Félix Set for Al-Nassr Move as Benfica Drop Out of the Race

João Félix’s future is edging closer to a dramatic shift, with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr reportedly closing in on a permanent deal for the Chelsea forward.

Benfica had held strong interest in re-signing their former star, hoping to provide the 24-year-old with a familiar, pressure-free environment to rediscover his best form. However, the Portuguese club’s financial constraints left them unable to meet Chelsea’s terms—especially after having extracted £107 million from the Blues for Enzo Fernández in 2023. As a result, Chelsea were in no mood to grant any favours.

According to Fabrizio Romano Al-Nassr have stepped in with serious intent, and the deal is said to be at an advanced stage. Benfica, who initially proposed a €25 million payment for just 50% of Félix’s rights, failed to offer any guarantees of completing a full transfer—leaving the door wide open for the Saudi Pro League side to swoop in.

Félix, who joined Chelsea on loan in January 2023 from Atlético Madrid and had limited impact during his spell in west London, now appears set to join a growing Portuguese contingent at Al-Nassr. Should the deal be completed, he would link up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Otávio under the guidance of former Benfica and Flamengo manager Jorge Jesus.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will see this as an opportunity to move on a player who has struggled for consistency and to trim their attacking department as they reshape the squad under Enzo Maresca.

The departure of Félix could also clear the path for the possible arrival of Dutch playmaker Xavi Simons, with Chelsea reportedly making progress in talks with RB Leipzig over a deal.

If confirmed, Félix’s move will mark another high-profile European export to Saudi Arabia—and another chapter in the reshaping of Chelsea’s forward line.
